Breaking News: Fear, Confusion and Panic Engulf Cameroon's Capital Yaounde as Another Explosion Rocks the City
Residents of the Yaounde neigbourhood of Damas are in panic mode following an explosion of a locally made devise in the early hours of this evening. The explosion reportedly occurred in the precinct close to a police station.
Eyewitness accounts report that over ten people sustained serious injuries, including a woman and a baby, and have been rushed to nearby health facilities.

Police and gendarmes have reportedly blocked the entire area and stopped all movement. Unconfirmed reports say an indiscriminate arrest of people in the area is ongoing as security battle to identify the perpetrators.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, some security officials say they believe disgruntled political groups seeking to oust 87-year-old Paul Biya from over 38 years of rule could be behind the attack. It is the second such attack in Yaounde in less than two weeks. The last attack targeted the Melen and Emana neighbourhoods.
This is a developing story. Details in the hours ahead.
