Ghana’s Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Ministry has cautioned citizens against travelling to Abuja, Nigeria, except where necessary, due to security risks.
In a travel advisory issued on November 16, 2022, the ministry said there have been rising security concerns in the Nigerian city, leading to directives by local authorities for hotels operating in residential buildings to shut down.
The release cited the rising danger of terrorism, criminality, inter-communal conflict, armed attacks, and kidnappings.
“The Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to the public when the situation improves”, the release added.
